Dance festival RULES

 

• Entrant’s section is determined by age at date of competition.

  • Baby:              5 & under

  • A:                    age 6 + 7

  • B:                    age 8 + 9

  • C:                    age 10 + 11

  • D:                    age 12 + 13

  • E:                    age 14+

• All dancers MUST be novice. If a dancer is ‘starred’ at this competition, they can re-enter next year.

• Being a ‘Star’ at this festival does not automatically qualify you for open in other festivals.

• Age bands for duets and trios to be determined by the oldest member of the group. All dancers to be novice.

• ALL dancers should have proof of age with them on the day and we will be doing spot checks. If you cannot prove your age your will be disqualified from the competition. Proof is via passport or TDCI card or similar. Photograph ID only accepted.

• Organiser’s reserve the right to amalgamate sections if low number of entrants warrants this action

• Entrants to arrive and be ready 30 minutes before time of section. Competitions will not be held up for late arrivals.

• Adjudicator’s decision is final.

• Trophies are the property of the winner.

• No Competitor can re-dance through lapse of memory except in Baby sections

• Dancing out of section is not permitted

• Vocals are allowed on music except in the song section of song and dance routines.

• Spaces are limited so entry will be given on a first come first served basis.

• Maximum of 10 in a section

 

• Time limits:

• Baby, A and B – 1 ½ minutes, an extra half minute is allowed for song & dance

• C, D and E – 2 minutes, an extra half minute is allowed for song & dance

• Duets & trios – 2 ½ minutes, an extra half minute is allowed for song & dance

 

• Music should be on cd or USB stick (MP3 format) to be handed in when you arrive. Each entry on a separate cd/stick please.

• Spectator fee is £5 for the day. This is paid when you arrive.

• Closing date 23rd February 2024. Payment confirms entry.
